The Lake District is a beautiful place to visit at any time of year, but it is truly spectacular in the summer! Here are just a few of our recommendations for your summer holiday in the Lakes…
Walk Grasmere and Rydal Water
This lovely, varied walk is a brilliant way to explore the old stomping ground of William Wordsworth. A walk round the beautiful Rydal Water takes you right past Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Trust Shop, giving you plenty of opportunities to take in the stunning area that inspired some of the poet’s most famous works. Don’t forget to grab yourself some award winning Grasmere Gingerbread while you’re there!
Mountain Biking at Whinlatter Forest
If you’re looking for a challenge this summer then why not hit the mountain bike trails at Whinlatter Forest? with a wide range of trails there’s something for every level of rider to enjoy, including an orienteering trail for those looking for a challenging way to explore the forest!
Conquer Cat Bells
‘The lair of the Wildcat’ is perhaps one of our most iconic fells dominating the skyline with views over Keswick, Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite. Despite the name, there is no need to fear as there are no big cats waiting to pounce on the unwary walker… and it really is hard to beat the views from the top of Cat Bells.
Go Ape Adventure
The perfect day out for all you adrenaline junkies! If seriously high-level tree-top crossings and incredible zip wire flights get your pulse quickening then head to the Treetop Challenge or Zip Trekking Adventure or if you prefer to keep you adventures at ground level you can also hop on a Segway and see the very best of the Lake District, with breath-taking views of Coniston Lake and mountains.
However you want to spend your summer the Lake District has something for everyone and at Whitbarrow Hotel we have prepared some fantastic special offers to show off the very best of the Lakes.
